Elliott, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the best.

Life is funny. Sometimes, things go really well, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. That really sucks.

There are periods when I can’t remember a time when I was happy. Moments when a misunderstanding has blown completely out of proportion and a loved one says/does something that hurts me deeply. To the point that I just go to my room, sit and cry.

To the point where I wonder why I’d deserve such. Sometimes, it’s even worse. I just feel this sense of dread and despair. Intense sadness and sorrow. Pain.

Then again, I try to remember that someone, somewhere is having it worse. That as I type this , someone doesn’t even have access to electricity. Or that someone won’t eat anything because he/she can’t even afford it.

Being grateful for what I have has helped me really stay motivated in my dark times. And it’s because I read a lot and watch people who have inspired me. The most prominent is James Altucher.

It’s funny: I’m 26, I live in Buea, Cameroon. Africa. But James is a forty something American who had influenced my life so much by sharing his story and how he got back from bankruptcy, divorce and a lot more.

Elliott, I don’t know what you’re going through, I can only send vibrations of love and hope to you. Wherever you are.

Remember, diamonds are made through pressure on coal.

Feed your mind with good thoughts. Feed your four bodies — emotional (stay away from people who don’t love and care for you), mental (write ten ideas every day, no matter how crappy. Read.), physical (eat healthy, sleep well, exercise), and spiritual (read a scripture text from whatever you believe in, meditate, practice gratitude).

James Altucher says everytime he’s done this on a daily basis , he’s seen tremendous results in 6 months.

Just show up. Work on you. And your mind.

It will be hard. It will take patience.

But it’s not impossible.

Choose yourself. Be happy. Make the choice to be happy. You have the power to.
